WAR OF THE REBELLION OFFICIAL ERRATA Units ===== 1. Beyond the "Additional Counter Errata" listed on the sheet included in the game, note the following on Sheet 1, left side, row 2: position 1: "Hunt" should read "Tyler" positions 9, 10: use the blank white counters to create 2 "Hunt" (Huntington) artillery a and b units, with identical values to all other Reserve artillery units. 2. Minor error: the 3 CSA "Beckham" horse artillery units in Gettysburg should read "Peckham." Replacement counters for incorrect units will be provided free to registered owners, and for a small sum to others who request them. Maps ==== 1. Gettysburg-- Hexes 1024 and 1333 are entry hexes, and should have a red star like all the others. 2. Chickamauga-- The Direction of Retreat Diagram is wrong. Alexander's Bridge crosses the northern hexside of hex 1608. Use this to orient the direction of retreat (N, NE, SE, S, SW, NW). The game rules are correct. Charts ====== 1. Activation Sequence Summary (6.31): #4 refers to "independent divisions," not "in dependent divisions." 2. Unit Values Summary (on back of large fold-out sheet): Under "Movement During Combat (10)," bullet #5, the reference should be to 10.23, not 10.26. 3. Gettysburg Union Reinforcement Roster: Burling's brigade and Randolph b artillery belong to Group Q, not Group R. Only [Lockwood (+5)] belongs to Group V. De Trobriand's Brigade (Group Q) enters in hex 6129, with 0 hits. RULES ===== 2.4, bullet #2: The "0" on the 10-sided die is treated as "10," unless a specific rule or results table specifies that it shall be treated as "0." 4.14 This rule applies only to non-artillery units. See (4.13) for artillery hits. 4.5 Line of Sight Example (p.12): The area covered is part of the Gettysburg map, with matching hex numbers. The obstacle in hex 4312 is Woods, as are hexes 4210 and 4310. Hexes 4014 and 4515 are level 3. Hexes 3815, 3914, 4113-14, 4214, 4314, 4415, and 4514 are level 2. Hex 4113 blocks LOS because it lies between the Poague artillery unit and hexes 4214, 4314, and 4415. Although LOS is not blocked into hex 4515 (Little Round Top), it lies beyond Poague's 6-hex extended range. Exclusive Rules =============== South Mountain -------------- The Union side is the first player in both scenarios. Shiloh ------ Scenario 1 (p.49): In the "Union 6am Set-up" the "Illinc" artillery unit should read "Illini." Gettysburg ---------- "Exclusice Rules" (p.54) should read "Exclusive Rules." Units: Reduce the number of artillery counters from two to one per Confederate infantry division. CSA corps level artillery and horse artillery should be left as is. Dispose of the extra counters, and ignore all references to them in the rules and charts. 16.1 Confederate Forces chart: delete "Robertson" under Stuart. 18.2 Use the 6-sided die, not the 10-sided die. Scenario 1 (p.63): Divide the Union VPs by the CSA VPs, and drop fractions. Determine victory level as follows: 5-1 or more = Union strategic, 4-1 = Union marginal, 3-1 = draw, 2-1 = CSA marginal, 1-1 or less = CSA strategic. Chickamauga ----------- Scenario 1 (p.76): Union XXI Corps commander Crittenden does not begin the scenario in play. He enters with either Van Cleaves' or Wood's division; the Union side selects a division at the instant it is summoned. Ignore the asterisks in the Union and CSA Initial deployments. Baird, Thomas, Forrest, and Pegram are all commanders and should be printed in bold type. Scenario 2 (p.77): Palmer is a commander and should be in bold type. Q&A WAR OF THE REBELLION Q: Can a committed division commander be controlled by a Corps Commander? (6.14) A: Yes. Q: Do independent units have to attempt activation, or is it optional? (6.2) A: Activation attempts are mandatory for independent units. Q: Can commanders become committed? (6.41) A: No. If all units of a division or corps except the commander are committed, then the division or corps is considered committed and does not require an attack order (6.42) to move. Q: Does a division or corps containing only committed units require an attack order from a superior commander? (6.42) A: No, but it does if even one subordinate unit is not committed. Q: What is the movement allowance for reinnforcements in the various games? (13.1) A: Use one of the two options listed in Reinforcement Movement Allowances (13.1). Either roll normally, or use a fixed allowance. All games use a fixed allowance of 5 MPs, except for Chickamauga (see 18.4). EOF
