From The Wargamer Vol.2, 4 Errata - Clarifications Shot & Shell Q. On the 36 Special Hit Table 12 a. it says 2 adjacent destroyed in section hit. 2 adjacent what? A. Guns. Q. On chart 44 Fire Damage for level V fire, there is no list of how many hull factors are lost, should we assume that no hull factors are lost, 3H per tum as a level IV fire, or 4H per tum following the sequence for the previous fires. A. At Level V, 4H are lost per turn. Q. When a ship loses its top speed due to flotation hits and its speed needs to drop more than its engine capacity, does it just drop its engine capacity, or do you drop it p to 1/2 of its present movement, or do you just drop it to the new speed? A. You drop to the new speed. Q. Now for the crew rules. I can't find anything in the rules you lose for crew hits on ships, except that your morale drops and that seems to bottom out at 7 for an average crew. Now there is this odd line on page 29 which says "**Sometimes a player will want to release heavy repairmen to do other important tasks, like running the engine, etc. He may release them, subject to the above penalty for additional damage." So I can make no sense of that in these rules, since I can't find where it says you need someone to run the engine. So what is going on? A. Crew hits are in rule 10.53c, Table 33 and Table 38. Section 9.22a mentions manning engines, also see Engine Crew Table (13A), which was accidentally omitted from the game. The section further mentions how many crew factors are needed to man guns. Q. Having heavy repairmen doubles the number working on a fire. Can you voluntarily have assigned heavy repairmen even if you haven't taken heavy damage? A. No, heavy damage is needed first. Q. Can crew marked off with "/" be used to fight fires? A. Yes, see rule 10.53c on general repair men. Q. Can you take more losses with "X's" than you have initial crew? A. No, because they are all casualties. Q. Can you take more losses with "/'s" and "X's" than you have initial crew? A. Yes. See attached new rule. Q. If you assign heavy repairmen and you "X" out some crew then I assume you make a new morale check. If you then find some reason to release them, does your morale go up? Do you make another check if you later release them? A. Yes. No. No, once they are assigned, heavy repairmen do not change morale if they are released or reassigned. Shot and Shell Rules Changes: The Engine Crew Table referred to in 9.22a should have its number (13A) printed behind Add new Table: 13A ENGINE CREW Crew Factors Allocated Effect 3 Engine and Speed Normal 2 -2MP off available maximum speed, available engine capacity is +1,-1 1 -3MP off available maximum speed, available engine capacity is 0,-1 0 halve actual speed each tum, drop fractions, no After the first ii in Section 10.53c, add the following: iii. After marking through an entire crew as / and X hits, the targeted player goes back and crosses off slashes for any new crew hits. When a whole crew receives Xs, all crewmen are casualties and no one is left to operate the unit.
