From The Wargamer, Vol.1, 38 HELL HATH NO FURY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q: What is the time scale and unit scale of the garne? A: Time scale cannot be exact be cause no one knows the time-scale of the historical campaign. But if you reckon each game-turn as two to three days of real time you won't be far out. Unit scale (how many men per counter) is easy for the Romans, based on cohorts consisting of about 500 men. But the scales are not equal for the two sides. A tribal 5-2 infantry unit may be considered to contain at least twice as many men as a Roman 5-2 legionnaire unit. Q: When using Section 28.0, what happens to disrupted Roman units with no Legio affiliation (town defenders and the Governor's Guard)? A: They can move only towards Paulinus; if he is not currently in play they cannot move at all. Disrupted town defenders do not have the option of moving towards their home center Q: Rule 12.10: if the defeated side is completely eliminated, surely the attacker should be allowed to advance one tract? A: No. Advance after combat represents pursuit, which does not occur if there is nothing to pursue. You may have encountered the situation where an attacker is left exceeding supply limits after such an attack, unable to use advance after combat to split his force up. This is intentional, how ever, designed to discourage "over kill ." Q: Rule 13.3: should participating leaders, like Charge, be declared by each player before the strength of the enemy force is revealed? A: Yes, this is a good idea, although in many cases the participation of leaders will be obvious. Q: Movement: can an undisrupted unit move one single tract in its Movement Phase, even if this alone would exceed its movement ability, so long as it does not move directly from one enemy-occupied tract to another. A: Yes. Although not explicitly stated in the rules, this should be allowed, for consistency with disrupted units (Rule 15.5). Such situations will be rare, but could occur for example where a foot unit enters a marsh tract via a river tract-side. Q: If a disrupted unit forced to move under Section 28.0 is involved in a supply check and a "CM" result oc- curs, which takes precedence? A: The forced movement under 28.0. This represents "involuntary" movement, whereas CM represents a purely temporary breakdown in discipline and command control. Q: If Section 29.0 is being used, can town defender units form part of a garrison force? A: Yes. For this purpose only, town defenders count as auxiliary foot units .
