Cards: The Ute's Battle Rating is "+1". 4.21. CLARIFICATION. In the Basic Game for five players, first turn, there are only 19 Tribal cards available (9 tribes are on reservation). The player who gets to choose his tribe first is the one short-changed one card. 5.341 (and 6.21). CLARIFICATION: Units may move directly from Utah to New Mexico and Colorado to Arizona; i.e., across the "4 Corners". 5.43. CLARIFICATION: All Commanders are assigned to columns Randomly. They are not selected by choice; they are drawn blindly from whatever pool of counters is being used. 7.3. CLARIFICATION: In all Indian vs Indian combat, DRs are rounded off "mathematically". E.g., 3-2 = 2-1; but 2-3 = 1-2. 7.41. CLARIFICATION: A Village with 0 BPs attacked by a column takes all losses as Devastation Points. 8.11. CORRECTION: The VPs that the US player gives the Indian do NOT come from his personal supply; they are just awarded to the Indian. 9.2.F Blood Lust. When this card is played, the player on whom it is played undertakes that attack immediately - out of sequence as it were. After it is completed, play returns to the player who played the card. 9.2.I Federales: This card is the one card that may be played "out of turn". When doing so, the player who played it is considered to have played his Shaman Card for purposes of 4.4.B for the upcoming round. 11.3. CLARIFICATION. Use the US Column markers (5.33) in the Solitaire version, too. Questions and Answers with Rich Berg **Q: Rule 6.21 says, "ACTIONS: Relocation counts as one of the two (maximum) actions a Village may undertake per Round. Thus a Village may undertake two Relocations per Turn." Shouldn't that be two actions per village per TURN? For that matter, if you take an action with one of the multi-village Tribes, does that mean you can take an action with each of their villages, or just one of them? We said just one. **A: 1. 6.21 should say "per TURN". **Q: Why shouldn't a War Party always take all BPs of a village every time? Yeah, a +6 modifier is huge, but in the worst case scenario, a big column comes along and desvastates the defensesless village, resulting in insufficient survival points, resulting, in turn, with the loss of ONE meagre BP for the village during the Survival Round! I'd rather lose one BP in the Survival round than three defending the village PLUS an additional one for insufficient survival points... **A: Question of tactics and how you wish to play the game. Most of the time, players do take all their BPs with them... then there are times they don't. Given the sources I read, this is about right historically... **Q: What is the best way to remember if a village has taken one of its two actions? Obviously, if there's a War Party out, there's no problem. But if a village relocates as its first action, it's tough to remember if it moved yet... **A: Flip the village marker upside down??? Never came up in playtesting... **Q: Does a Raid use up one of a villages two actions? If it does, then it seems to us that Raids are pretty bogus. **A: Yes, and, yes, you don't get much from a raid. But it is more than "0", and you can't be hurt by it. **Q: How many columns may attempt reaction? Just one attempt, or multiple attempts with one possible successful reaction? **A: As many columns as are available to do so... you can always try to combine them using the rules for such. Other than that, the first column to be successful gets to go chase the locals. **Q: 6.52 says that a Chief's Combat rating modifies any War Party Battle DR. Shouldn't it also modify a VILLAGE's Battle DR if he's defending his Village? **A: Yes, it does. **Q: Since Devastation does not apply to a Village being attacked by Indians, then War Parties should NEVER attack undefended Villages, right? This seems pretty strange to us. **A: Not really. While such a thing did happen (altho not very often, as most (but not all) Indians were not that much into that form of warfare), its effects have nothing to do with the aim of the game, as did many other things that I left out.
