From The Wargamer, v1, n20 Birth of a Nation AMERICAN SET-UP (3.1) The American set-up hexes are one hex off (We sliced a hexrow off the bottom during production). The set-up should read: Nixon: 2744, 2748, 2745, 2946. Patterson: 2543, 2643, 2443, 2544. Glover 2044, 2043, 2143, 2243, 2343, 2144, 2244. Poor 2045, 2046, 1947, 1948, 1848, 2047, 1949, 1849, 1850. Learned: 1344,1244,1246, 1247. 4 3-Pounders (each): 2748, 2242, 1346. 4 6-Pounders (each): 2844, 2746. 2 6-Pounders 3146. BRITISH SET-UP is OK. In the British Order of Battle ignore the "2" mortar with the Rear Train. RULES CLARIFICATIONS (7.25) The hanging sentence refers to the fact that you should remember that line units have terrain restrictions when moving (see 6.3). (7.41) There is only one Militia brigade. (7.62) The boat hexes are 3048 and 3149, not 3051-2. (7.83) Bog and Marsh are the same thing. Note that some of the bog is in a ravine. (7.8683) On the chart, NA = Not Allowed. (10.16) The example for 11 Va should read "A*" (10.6) On the chart, the range for rifles is shifted to the left and should read "+ 1" at one hex and "-1" and 2 hexes. (11.16) Re the last sentence, that Morale Check is undertaken only if all units fail the Assault Attempt. (11.53) The word "land" in third sentence should be "and". (11.65, 11.67, etc.) The result "E" is interchangeable with result "X'; they both mean the same thing. (11.67) The paragraph is right; the chart is wrong. (11.68) On the ART, the left most column should read "I-S, etc.". Note that odds lower than l-S are treated as l-S and those higher than 6-1 are treated as 6 1, and you may never adjust further than these columns. Also note that the instruction at the bottom of the table is wrong; see 11.67. (12.33) You add one, not subtract. (Map Morale Table): Under the "Withdraw" action, the bottom line should have "Routed" under Result, and then read, per column, A = -; B = I; C = I; D = 1-2. (Simply shift the bottom line one to the right). (Map) Despite - or perhaps because of the best intentions of the upriver polluters, the Hudson River is not Purple; rather it is grey-green. Final Note: Our proof-reader has been given two weeks off in order to get glasses for his one good eye and to treat his case of intermittent dyslexia.
