From: "Robert R. Lindsay" Subject: BftA errata having finally finished reviewing BftA, and armed with some of Skip's original questions, I managed to get what I consider a reasonably complete set of BftA errata: Consolidated Errata Map Discrepancies: Map C should be labeled Map B. Map B should be labeled Map C. C0323/0423 has a ford - D0302/0402 doesn't. A0116/0216 has a ford - C2316/2416 doesn't. A0115/0214 has a ford - C2315/2414 doesn't. A0113/0213 has a ford - C2313/2413 doesn't. A1421 has the town of Ouffet - B1400 doesn't. C2223 is broken terrain - A0023 is light woods. C2207 is broken terrain - A0007 is light woods. D2209 is broken terrain - B0009 is light woods. B0212 is clear terrain - D2412 is broken. A0323 is a four way intersection. B0301 doesn't have any roads. Map B south-west corner is light woods and heavy woods on the other maps. If the maps were trimmed where maps A/C overlay B/D two minor terrain discrepancies would be removed. DG: When laying the maps down for a Campaign Game, lay them down in the following order: Clervaux, St. Vith, Sedan, Celles. Any hex on the East-West center line that have partial light woods terrain on the northern map and full broken terrain on the southern sheet are broken terrain. Rules Discrepancies: 5.21 - Friendly units do not impede the movement of other friendly units. They do. Sentence is useless. 5.21 second sentence - However, a mechanized unit moving through a road hex containing another friendly unit must pay the cost of the other terrain in the hex. If an infantry unit moving or marching through a road hex use the road cost for that hex? Also, the sentence should read more like, However, a mechanized unit entering a road hex... . DG: Marching inf pays road costs no matter what else is in the road hex. 5.24 - ... (exception: see 4.29). Should be 4.23 & 5.32. 8.33 - Attacks against units defending in towns or in Improved Positions (12.0) are resolved on the terrain line of the other terrain in the hex. However, the combat odds column used on the CRT is shifted one to the left before resolving the attack. DG: Improved positions generate a ONE Column shift, not TWO as in 12.0 8.49 - Marching units that attack must take at least one step loss when satisfying an unfavorable combat result. If three marching units attack and get a 1/1 result, is only one step taken from the marching units? DG: Yes. 9.27 - Barrage strength is halved when firing into towns, cities, and Improved Positions and when firing at German units in Westwall hexes. What about combined attacks? DG: Yes. 12.2 - Units defending in Improved Positions receive a two-column shift to the left on the CRT. DG: ONE COLUMN. Changed from SPI version. 23.46 - ... Also, for the first six turns German artillery units may combine their factors for barrage attacks. Can it also combine for combined attacks? DG: Yes. Order of Battle: Where is the 2nd Panzer set up in the Celles scenario? A: 3/2 0416, 2/2 0319, 304/2 0414 In the rule under advance after combat it says that armored and recon units may not advance into "forest" hexes. Is this light and heavy woods? DG: Yes Can they advance into the hex of combat? DG: Yes Allied Supply Sources. Each scenario special rules lists the supply sources for the Germans. The Allies may draw supply from the rest of the map edges. Scenario #2, 244th Stu III, and 506 Tiger Bn, are misplaced on Map B and should be placed on Map D, hexes 0722 and 1024 respectively. The U.S. 26/1st is back mislabeled with unit I.D. 327/101st. 751/326 VG Set-up hex is C2019. In rule 5.231, the word, "through" should be "into". Rule 5.24 should state that the exception is found in 4.23. Clarification for Rule 6.22. Each marching unit must adhere to the rule for its individual movement, not just at the end of the movement phase. The designer wanted to emphasize the difficulty of marching. Rule 23.45. All Our River bridges are blown, including those on Map C. Entry areas for rule 23.83 are any road leading off Map A (Celles). Entry areas for rule 24.33 are A2322-B2310 (St. Vith). Entry areas for rule 24.45 are C0107-0123 (Sedan). Entry areas for 25.4 are A2310-C2310 and B2308-2310 (St. Vith). The Special Rules for Scenario 6 also apply to Scenario 7. In Scenario 8, the US 104/26 sets at 0109D.
