Spotlight Article Graphic

"If one is to do this, it is quite useful to read Caesar to see the kinds of things he considered important when choosing if or when to give battle." Prufrock muses about the value of running campaigns for the ancients gaming he prefers. See why "It turned out I'd rather refight Zama for the tenth time than try to sustain interest in endless minor encounters between similarly equipped neighbours over local concerns."

Fast, simple, not expensive, little errata, but only reasonably fun. (War game Review)

In his review on BoardGameGeek, Brendan Whyte first turns a critical eye towards the components and rules and lists their shortcomings. Game play fares better: “…the game is fast and quite fun”. Whyte then goes into comprehensive details covering game mechanics and spares no criticism for the game opponent (AI). His discussion concerning solitaire board games vs solitaire computer games is very interesting.

15th (Virtual) U-Boat Flotilla: Looking for Players!

Play By Forum game of The Hunters: German U-Boats at War, 1939-43. We are currently in our first campaign of it. If you are interested but don't have a copy, the Vassal Mod is posted in the forums. We post a minimum of one patrol a week, every Sunday. We are using a combination of Berry's Historical Rules, and the official game rules, but we are still feeling out the best way to make the Play By Forum work and all input is considered by those playing. If you are interested, we are keeping it where new crews can join at any time. (Shared by Blaird)

Armchair General: Review

... an extremely immersive solitaire game...' So says Rick Martin in his Armchair General review of ConSim Press's solitaire game of World War II submarine warfare. Don't neglect to check out Rick's commander's log (link is in the main article), which reads like an actual U-Boat commander's log. Great stuff. Just placed my P500 order for the reprint...

The Gaming Gang: Review

Great review about a solitaire game that has raised quite a bit of gamer interest. The best aspect of the review is that, although positive overall, it did not gloss over any negatives. Gives you a lot more confidence that you're hearing both sides of the story before making a purchase.
