Fast, simple, not expensive, little errata, but only reasonably fun. (War game Review)

In his review on BoardGameGeek, Brendan Whyte first turns a critical eye towards the components and rules and lists their shortcomings. Game play fares better: “…the game is fast and quite fun”. Whyte then goes into comprehensive details covering game mechanics and spares no criticism for the game opponent (AI). His discussion concerning solitaire board games vs solitaire computer games is very interesting.

878 Vikings: Invasions of England by Academy Games

A War Gamers Needful Things reviews Academy Games offering on the Viking invasions in their game 878 Vikings: Invasions of England. "Although the rules are simple there is enough in here, especially with 4 players, to keep even the most experienced of Grognards entertained. Even if they consider it as a simple 60-minute filler – my game of this went closer to 90 minutes plus a bit., I guarantee that they will enjoy it."

VILLAGE PILLAGE: VIKINGS 878 ATTACK

Russ Lockwood from The Board Gaming Life reports on a game of 878 - Vikings: Invasions of England published by Academy Games. Russ was impressed by the advantages of the Viking leaders. "The Viking leaders offer a distinct advantage in that they can pick up and drop troops off as they move and can perform something akin to an overrun if they can whack all the defending locals in one round of combat."

878 AD Vikings – 2 player-variant

The Boardgames Chroniclebrings us a two player variant for Academy Games' 878 - Vikings: Invasions of England where "one side controls both Viking factions and the other English ones. That allows for better control and coordination but on the other side provides less fun from sometimes not-so-well coordinated actions of the allies."

878 AD – Vikings in action – first impressions

One of my favorites from Academy Games is 878 A.D.-Vikings in Action and the Boardgames Chronicle gives us their first impressions of the first play through. "The game is very thematic – the mechanics itself (Viking raids) and the opposing English are very well depicted and you feel as a part of history. It is definitely a fast-paced and quick game which can be played in reasonable time. On the other hand it is also exciting & brutal, with battles being a main driving factor here." Isn't that what a Viking game is all about?

878 Vikings Strategy Guide Pt. 1: Playing the Vikings

Strategy guide by Gunter Eickert. There are three different strategies that I like to play when I play as the Vikings.
